STREET PHOTOGRAPHY
In this tw0-day workshop, participants will get a jam-packed itinerary, all in DTLA. There will be specific assignments on the street, critiques, and lectures on how to see well, and move quickly, all while using a wide-angle lens. You will learn the law and ethics of street photography, what makes a good street shot, how to anticipate a moment, how to get close, and how to work a situation.
A full itinerary will be sent to the participants upon enrollment.

STREET CRITIQUE
This is Julia’s signature class, and most popular. It is meant for photographers who are serious about getting good. This class is a continuation of the introductory Street Photography class with Julia. It is intended to motivate you to shoot weekly with your comrades, or on your own in preparation of a critique of the work. Every three weeks, the group will meet in DTLA for a critique and a lecture prepared by Julia to help guide you in your quest to become an accomplished street photographer. You will also be given specific assignments between critiques. There will also be three group shoots, TBD.
This class can be repeated numerous times, as Julia changes the lectures with each new season. A survey will be taken at the beginning of the class to see which of many topics she offers will best suit your needs.

Tuition: $295 (new students); $275 (repeating students)
Maximum Enrollment: 18 Students
This class is divided into two critiques and one lecture, all on Sundays.
The first critique is from 10 am - 12 pm for half the class. The second critique is from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.
An hour long lecture for all 18 people is inbetween (12:00 - 1:00 pm)

LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR FLASH QUICKLY IN ALL SITUATIONS
In this one-day workshop, you will learn how to use your flash on camera and off, in both manual and TTL modes.
The first half of the class will be spent on the streets of Chinatown working with the flash on camera and off camera, in your hand, learning how to capture candid's quickly. We will use each other for subject matter or you can ask strangers on the street to take part. We will be working outdoors and indoors for these exercises.
Throughout the day, you will learn how to use your flash as (1) “the main source of light” when in low-light situations, and (2) as a “fill light.”
We then move on to improving the quality of light, first with flash diffusers, then by getting the flash off the camera onto a stand with an umbrella, all while working quickly. This is a hands-on workshop, with a lot of guidance and a lot of shooting.
To enable off-camera flash use, participants will need to buy, rent, or borrow a TTL flash transmitter that attaches to your camera, allowing you to take the flash off camera.
