2008 Winners
We are pleased to announce the winner of the 2008 New Documentarian Award - Matt Eich, from Athens, Ohio. His documentary project, Carry Me Ohio, was a close-up look of an area in Southeastern Ohio, where poverty is prevalent “after the area had been stripped of its resources by extractive industries.” Please take a look at Matt’s work by clicking the link below.
We also wish to recognize and thank everybody who entered the contest. The work was outstanding, making it a difficult task for the judges - Los Angeles Times photographer Allen Schaben and Julia Dean.
Though a $1000 cash prize is given only to the first place-winner, the judges felt it was important to name the top five, as the work was so strong. So please join us in congratulating:
